We are fortunate enough to live in a country where we have many freedoms. We have the right
to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We have the right to free speech. We have the right
to critique our leaders without fear of retaliation. These are freedoms that come so naturally to
us that is easy to take them for granted. Yet if you live in this country and enjoy these freedoms,
you have one group of people who you need to thank for that: Veterans.
Veterans have made the ultimate sacrifice: they have put their own desires aside and risked
their lives to defend this democracy of ours. This is a sacrifice we should not take for granted
ever. Yet unfortunately, many of our veterans come home from war zones and other places of
service and do not thrive afterward. Part of the problem could be the fact that many of our
Veterans come home for having worked their bodies and minds very hard for years, and both
are feeling the effects of the time they spent in service. Veterans have to deal with many chronic
conditions as a result of their service. Many of the solutions for those chronic health problems
can include the use of medications that can cause more trouble for the veteran in the long run. It
is good to follow traditional medication, but it is also wonderful to be able to do something
additional to help that treatment plant along. For many vets, the solution to some of their
symptoms could be CBD.
Cannabidiol gives patients access to the beneficial properties of the cannabis plant without
having to be high and dopey. Our bodies actually have receptors within a system called the
endocannabinoid system that many believe could be the solution to relief for a variety of medical
problems. CBD helps to replace the cannabinoids that various conditions such as stress,
chronic pain, or anxiety can deplete. When the cannabinoids are replaced through CBD, those
symptoms can become more manageable or relieved completely. But what are some issues our
vets have that CBD can help with?
There are things that people see during combat that many of us will never understand. There is
the factor of your own life being at stake, but you can also see your fellow soldiers perish. You
can see innocent people killed accidentally. All of those things can cause a heightened sense of
anxiety. CBD can help to relieve the symptoms of anxiety and panic and bring about a sense of
calm that can give a veteran the ability to move forward with less worry.
Sometimes instead of worry or anxiety, a person’s mind can transport them back to the places
and experiences that have caused trauma in their lives. PTSD can cause people to have
flashbacks, become irritable, completely detach from their emotions, and more. PTSD can
completely change the way a person lives. It can take a person from being happy from one
moment to feeling completely despondent the next minute. CBD oil can help to soothe the
symptoms of PTSD, restoring a general sense of calm and well being. Using CBD in conjunction
with traditional methods can greatly reduce the amount of frustration your vet could be feeling
while trying to manage their PTSD.
